Our Guide to Batch Shooting Content
If you're constantly scrambling for content, stuck in the "What do we post today?" loop, or burning out trying to create something new every single week, it’s time to start batch shooting.
Batch shooting is our not-so-secret weapon to staying consistent, creative, and calm when it comes to content creation. It's how we help our clients build cohesive, story-driven content that actually works and how we keep our own feeds aligned with our vision and voice.
Whether you're managing your brand solo or running a team, this guide will help you plan and execute your next shoot with intention and ease.
What Is Batch Shooting?
Batch shooting is the process of planning and capturing multiple pieces of content (photos, videos, behind-the-scenes moments, etc.) in one focused session. Rather than creating content as you go, you block off a day (or two) to build a full library of content to pull from over weeks or even months.
It’s how you stop creating from panic and start creating from purpose.
Why We Swear by It
Saves time — One day of shooting can cover you for weeks.
Keeps content cohesive — Visual consistency builds brand trust.
Boosts creativity — Less pressure = more room to experiment.
Reduces stress — Say goodbye to last-minute scramble posts.
Our Step-by-Step Guide to Batch Shooting
1. Start With Strategy
Before anything else: What are you trying to communicate?
What campaigns, offers, or key brand messages are coming up?
What do you want your audience to feel or do?
Which platforms are you creating for?
Every shot should have a job, even the playful ones.
2. Build Your Shot List
Now that you have a strategy, map out the content types you need. A few go-to categories:
Product shots
Behind-the-scenes
Lifestyle images
Team culture content
Educational reels or talking head videos
Customer/client experience visuals
Bonus: Break this list down by format (photo, video, stories, etc.) so you shoot with intention.
We use a shared google doc on which we list the shots as well as add reference links.
3. Plan Your Visuals
This is where the creative magic happens.
Choose a mood, colour palette, and vibe that reflects your brand.
Decide on props, locations, outfits, and setups.
Create a mood board so everyone is aligned visually.
We always remind our clients: even when you’re showing up casually, it should be intentional.
We use Pinterest for our moodboards or build it out in Canva.
4. Schedule Your Shoot Day(s)
Book your photographer or videographer (or prep your phone gear if you're DIY-ing), and build a detailed timeline for the day.
Pro tip: Start with the highest-energy or most important shots first, you’ll look and feel fresher at the start of the day.
5. Capture Behind-the-Scenes Content
BTS footage is content gold. Whether it’s for stories, reels, or a brand documentary down the line - capture the process. Your audience loves to see how the magic happens, not just the polished result.
6. Organise and Store Everything
After the shoot, sort your content into clearly labeled folders. We recommend organizing by content type, platform, and format. This makes it easy to repurpose and repost across different channels over time.
We use physical hard drives for raw footage, and place edited content onto the online drive, which our client can also access.
When you batch shoot, you're not just creating content. You're taking control of your brand narrative. You're building a visual ecosystem that supports your goals and serves your audience consistently.
And best of all? You’re creating space — space to plan, to rest, to innovate.
